MEMORANDUM 02.02.2000
THE RACIST TREATMENT OF ASSYLUM SEEKERS IN THE STATE OF BRANDENBURG:
Sir/Madam,
We, the asylum seekers in Rathenow the territorial district of Havelland, Brandenburg have a tract record of attacks from the aborigins or so called pro nazis in this district and state.
In view of the fact that we flee from our various countries because of insecurity on our lives, to seek refuge in a country where we could be secured, protected and respected, here we have instead embraced a series of racist attacks that have jeopardized our lives and have subdued us to both physical and psychological toture.
Many residents in the asylum camps in Rathenow in particular and the state of Brandenburg in general have been seriously beaten and injured. We have already registered a series of attacks since the beginning of this Millenium. The latest of these attacks occured in a restaurant right near the asylum camp of which Mr. Andy John having a Tchadian nationality was brutally and inhumanly beaten by about fifteen pro-nazis. He was seriously manhandled to the extend that his tooth was plucked off and he incured body injury.
Last year, Mr. Christopher Nsoh was assaulted in a discothek known as "Limouria". On this day, he was with Mr. Clement Ndiorege, Mr. Fotso Antoine and Mr. Peter Tibui. Mr. Perfect Jebba also suffered this racist attack in Rathenow.
On the 31. December 1999 (Silvester evening), a Pakistan named Mahmood Khalid, a resident in the asylum camp in Rathenow was brutally beaten to extend that he spent the first five days of year 2000 in the hospital. He lost two of his teeth and incured serious body injury. He was with one other guy by name Danish from Pakistan and in another asylum camp in Heidefeld in this very area.
Sir/Madam,
We have realised that despite these attacks and threats of lives, the authorities of the state of Brandenburg have taken no action. We find this state so insecured to live in. They are actually unable to guarantee our security. Following the other attacks in Potsdam, Belzig, Cottbus etc. We are now calling on you to use your good and highoffices to tate immediate action before it degenerates. There is a common adage which states that "To have peace, one should prepare for war". We no longer want to be moving in fright, we do not want to be moving with weapons, we do not want to see any more blood.
Please, if the aborigines could not be brought to order, if asylum seekers could not be respected, if the Geneva convention could not be taken into account, please, please, please, remove us from this state of Brandenburg. We all are of the opinion that our camp should be moved to any other place in Germany where our security could be guaranteed.
Thanks Sir/Madam for your cooperation.
